Way back in my early twenties I was looking at a friend’s (really, not just saying that) Playgirl magazine, to read the articles of course, which actually had an idea that stuck with me. The idea was about spicing up life at the holidays by bringing back the tradition of the 12 days of Christmas and giving a gift a day for twelve days leading up to Christmas. Fast forward to the first holiday with my husband back when we were still dating. He hated Christmas which I found heartbreaking so I decided that I needed to change that and even though we were as broke as could be I managed to wrap up something for twelve days. He had a lot of fun and his inner Scrooge was gone forever.
When the little vegan, Anzia was born we decided that we would make the twelve days part of our family tradition. Okay, before anyone tells me we are doing it wrong (which people have on many occasions) I know that traditionally the twelve days started at Christmas and went through to January 6 which marks another religious holiday. We aren’t doing it for religious purposes, it is a tradition we made to work for our family and we love it. The little vegan gets a present a day starting on the 14th and then on Christmas day Santa (who she still says she believes in but I think she is faking) brings her main gift. The thing I love the most about it is that Christmas for me as a kid was a big cluster of unwrapping, then throwing the gift to the side to open the next present, where as with our approach she opens a present and has twenty-four hours to really enjoy it.
This year because the friends we have made on this blog are awesome and really mean a lot to us we had an idea to extend the twelve days to you and give a present a day for 12 days. At first I had planned on doing it all on my own and giving out my 12 favorite vegan items that I had to have, but then I had a thought and decided to see if some other vegan companies would like to get involved. Hubby was awesome and did most of the contacting of companies so I would like to take this moment to thank him publicly. We are shocked by the generosity of the companies that are going to participate but you will have to follow along to see who they are.
Now for the FUN stuff!!
Since I was a child I have received a pair of socks every year from my mom so I decided to start this thing off with socks. The little vegan bought me a pair of these and we decided to buy two more pairs to give away to two lucky winners. The socks are unisex so you don’t worry about the guy/girl thing.
How it works:

2. All entries must be received by 11:59PM PST on December 9, 2012.
3. We will have a reveal post the following day in a new post and the winner will have 48 hours to contact us from the time of post otherwise we will choose another winner who then will also have 48 hours to get back to us. We have learned from past contest that it is sometimes very difficult to get a hold of winners.
