I love contributing to Indiegogo/Kickstarter Projects, especially when they are vegan. I love giving things away on the blog to show my gratitude that you have chosen to follow us on this journey. I love Phoney Baloney’s Coconut Bacon. What could be much better than combining these three things that I love?
Awhile back, I supported Phoney Baloney’s indiegogo to get their coconut bacon company started. For my support I received not one but three bags of coconut bacon and decided to give away one to the lucky winner of this giveaway to try.
Just so you know, it has a rich, smokey flavor. It is crisp. The coconut only offers a hint of flavor, so little, that our little vegan who dislikes coconut, loved it. So far we have only eaten it straight out of the package, and can only imagine the possibilities of what you could use it for. Not sure if ours will actually make it into anything more elaborate becaue we can’t seem to stop eating it!
If you are interested leave a comment about how you would like to use it by midnight PST, March 2, 2013. We will choose a winner on the 3rd.
By the way, if you haven’t seen PPK’s 100 for 2012 list you should check it out. Phoney Baloney made it on so you know it must be awesome!
I would also like to add that Phoney Baloney did not ask us to review it. We were just super excited about it and had to share. We also hope they don’t mind us snagging their picture. Ours didn’t do this amazing product justice!
All about the loaded baked potato baby! Some earth balance buttery spread, shredded vegan gourmet cheddar cheese, broccoli, chives, and COCONUT BACON! Maybe a dollop of coconut milk fat in lieu of sour cream.
I make an OUTSTANDING bacon jam that is delicious on about anything. I would like to substitute the coconut bacon.
Of course in a grilled cheese (Daiya of course)! Homemade pizza, tofu scramble, blts, I’ve heard bacon is all the rage in desserts so I’d find a nice cupcake with maple frosting recipe & use the bacon as a topper, in salad…ooooh haven’t had a cob in forever and could make one with Tofurkey, phoneys bacon, Daiya chunks and new veganaise blue cheese dressing, sprinkled on cinnamon flap jacks…it’s endless!!
Bacon cupcakes or maybe to spice up a macaroon!
I’d use it to make a tofu club sandwich, a la Memphis Taproom in Philly! So good.
Um . . . directly in my belly.
I’d like to try it in a classic BLT or crumbled over a vegan pizza.
I would use it to recreate one of the MOST AMAZING vegan sandwiches I’ve ever eaten from Memphis Taproom in Philadelphia, PA. It has smoked coconut bacon, grilled lemon garlic tofu, and tomato herb vegan mayo (and lettuce/tomato). It is something I DREAM about and with this bacon, I could actually try making it myself. OH PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! 🙂
Oh, yes. A Vegan bacon cheeseburger!!! excuse me as I wipe the drool from my mouth
I would make my Vegan kiddies a huge loaded baked potato!!
I like the idea of the loaded baked potato, but I am also thinking a corn chowder. I think there was a recipe in Vegan with a Vengeance? I’ll have to check…
I would also make a classic BLT and probably straight out of the bag too! YUM.

I love to add to my vegan salad now and then. This would be a great topping to add.
I’d want to make a BLT. Good vegan bacon makes all the difference. 🙂
On top of salad
I would like to use it by midnight, when I can’t fall asleep, and I’m craving for a BLT 🙂
I would like to put in on a potato, on in a sandwich, or as a snack.
I would love to try it with pasta or on a salad.
I have been wanting to veganize my family’s German Potato Salad recipe FOREVER! It is probably the only thing I still miss, after being vegetarian for many years and vegan almost one. Coconut bacon would be just the thing, I think.
on top of a vegan donut
I would definitely like to try this! maybe in Mac n cheese, or with scrambled tofu… I would find some pretty unique ways to use it, for sure 🙂
This sounds fabulous! I had coconut bacon once at Cafe Gratitude, and it was wonderful. If I won a bag, I’d make vegan BLT’s! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
A summer pasta salad comes to mind!
I have a great potato soup recipe and some bacon on top would be amazing!! Or a BLAT! Yum!
