I love contributing to Indiegogo/Kickstarter Projects, especially when they are vegan. I love giving things away on the blog to show my gratitude that you have chosen to follow us on this journey. I love Phoney Baloney’s Coconut Bacon. What could be much better than combining these three things that I love?
Awhile back, I supported Phoney Baloney’s indiegogo to get their coconut bacon company started. For my support I received not one but three bags of coconut bacon and decided to give away one to the lucky winner of this giveaway to try.
Just so you know, it has a rich, smokey flavor. It is crisp. The coconut only offers a hint of flavor, so little, that our little vegan who dislikes coconut, loved it. So far we have only eaten it straight out of the package, and can only imagine the possibilities of what you could use it for. Not sure if ours will actually make it into anything more elaborate becaue we can’t seem to stop eating it!
If you are interested leave a comment about how you would like to use it by midnight PST, March 2, 2013. We will choose a winner on the 3rd.
By the way, if you haven’t seen PPK’s 100 for 2012 list you should check it out. Phoney Baloney made it on so you know it must be awesome!
I would also like to add that Phoney Baloney did not ask us to review it. We were just super excited about it and had to share. We also hope they don’t mind us snagging their picture. Ours didn’t do this amazing product justice!
I would like to try it in a sandwich like a BLT plus avocado. Thanks for having the giveaway!
I have tried it just as Anu has said, but I had smoked my own coconut. Such a long process, would be awesome just to get it already made!!
I would love to try it on my salads and in my tofu scramble! Yummy!!!
I’d try it in stuffed baked potatoes. Or a tofu omelet. Or pretty much anywhere, to be honest.
I would make chocolate bacon cupcakes.
Mmmmm – bacon lettuce tomato and avocado sandwich.
Maybe atop a vegan carbonara! Or sprinkled on salad. Would be interested to try them.
I would spread slices of bread with earth balance mayo, top with sliced tomato and crisp lettuce, then probably empty half the bag on top. omg, must either win these, or find them in the store…
I would use it as a topping for potato soup.
I’d try it in a tofu hash breakfast scramble!
I would so put it in cookies. yep!
oh YUM! how about vegan scramble with fresh spinach, garlic & coconut bacon. drewling! 🙂 Thanks for all you are doing to help animals!! xoxo – jody
with pumpkin pancakes and maple syrup. or in pecan chocolate chip cookies
I would love to open my mouth and apply it directly to my tongue. I’m old school.
I would open my mouth and apply directly to my tongue. I’m old school like that.
All of the above ideas sound fabulous. I think that potato skins with vegan cheddar and scallions and sour cream, plus the coconut bacon, sound absolutely divine!
straight out of the bag. Thank you!
Definitely would try it in a breakfast burrito… Yum!
Hmmmm…on a grilled soy cheese sandwich. Yes, that would do it!
Mine would definitely go in a grilled soy cheese sandwich. Yup. That would do it 🙂
I would crumble this on top of a cheezy, herby, wild mushroom risotto! yumm
I would try it in a tempeh bacon lettuce sandwich. Also baked beans sounded good. Ooooh & what about that broccoli salad that is so common during the holidays that my aunt makes but I can never try because it has bacon in it! That would be super yummy! Tofu scramble with bacon bits in it for breakfast sounds delish 2! The list goes on & on….
BLT . . . & just to snack on! Sounds yummy : )
My friend had coconut bacon in a “BLT” and loved it and I have since wanted to find and try some!
As a kid the only meat I ever liked was bacon, now the smell of it makes me… well you know. Somewhere in the past couple years my love of bacon has come back… but of course only VEGAN BACON, you name it, I want it on some form of BLT.. so I know its not a very exciting way to use it, but I want to try it as a BLCB (maybe some additional letters/ingredients) first and then maybe in a scramble, or I like this eating it plain idea 😉
