Vegan MOFO: S is for Sensual

Vegan MOFO: Day 23. Yes, we went from Q to S. A week or so ago I got in a jam and had to skip ahead a few letters at which time I did letters P and R out of order. Back on track now and as long as things go well I should be able to keep the remaining letters in order. Oh and if you haven’t already, check out our Pumpkin Creme Brulee on Vegan Mainstream. Also, try to spread the word about the letter S…if people were more sensual the world would be a happier place!

Back in the day when I met my hubby all it took for us was me wearing a super tight Green Eggs and Ham Dr. Seuss tee along with a smile and his long rocker hair with his finger nails painted and it was love at first sight. No really it was, but that’s a whole other story. Now a days us married with child lovers, want to keep it fun and exciting as we get older and what better way of doing that than with food. I mean we have to eat to keep up the energy why not get stimulated at the same time?

In order to get ready for this piece I have done a lot of reading up on aphrodisiacs and some experimenting. Yeah, well… this is a food blog so we will stick to the culinary side of sensuality! You may feel free to do your own experiments.

Some Vegan Aphrodisiacs – Disregard cinnamon. I guess it just turns me on!

Most of us have heard that oysters are an aphrodisiac but us vegans, we don’t need no stinking dead animal to gets us hot and bothered. Well actually, it gets us really hot and bothered but not in the way we are working towards today. So let’s move on. As I researched the foods that should help to increase our libido I found that the majority of them are vegan to begin with. No wonder we are such lovers.

Here are two great sources I found on aphrodisiacs and how they work:
The raw guru
Peta

I don’t know about you but when I get some time alone with my hubby the last thing I want is a heavy meal before getting busy, so I have put together a list of foods that contain said aphrodisiacs and are more appetizers or dessert bites, rather than full on meals. Yes, I realize that it’s getting chilly outside and these dishes don’t necessarily conjure up visions of warmth, but isn’t that even more reason to get close to your snuggle buddy and heat things up?

Hold the Mozzarella! Caprese  –  Aphrodisiacs: Basil and tofu(soy)

Buffalo Strips – We like it spicy in and out of the bedroom. If you prefer to keep your spice in the bedroom and out of your mouth these may not be for you! –  Aphrodisiacs: peppers and garlic – Plus throw in some cucumber and carrots for the dip

Coconut White Chocolate Truffles (I should have called these “Sex in a Ball” with all the sexy stuff packed in them!) – Aphrodisiacs: Pumpkin, chocolate, nutmeg, almond, cardamom, and ginger.    To make them completely over the top you could add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the chocolate!
