Road Tripping, Day 5: Omaha, Nebraska to Chicago, Illinois

Tonight after a white knuckle filled four hundred and sixty-eight mile drive we reached our final destination, Chicago. Much of our drive was pouring down rain. We made it exhausted by safe!

Our hotel had a continental breakfast where we all opted for fresh fruit. Anzia was able to get a glass of soy milk which was awesome. For lunch we opted to stop at Whole Foods in Des Moines, Iowa where I hit the salad bar, Phillip got a portabella sandwich, and Anzia chose a veggie roll.I have been having some health issues and have been drinking apple cider vinegar tea to help settle my stomach. I haven’t had it since leaving home so when I saw this I had to try it out. My stomach feels better tonight than it has in days. It was an extremely odd drink but I liked it. Are you familiar with coconut vinegar? The rest of the drive took longer than anticipated. We made a detour to the suburb, La Grange, Illinois where Phillip grew up. He hadn’t been there in over thirty years. It was awesome getting to see where he grew up!We had found a place to have dinner but we all just wanted to get the heck out of the car and to our hotel. We are staying downtown so after checking in we decided to walk around and try to find something to eat and do a little sight seeing.

I would have never guessed that in such a big city that all the food establishments would be closed at ten. Unfortunately we ended up with Subway again. Tomorrow should be more exciting on a culinary level!

Despite the fact that food wasn’t exciting it was an easy day to be vegan!

Vegan: 5 wins

It’s hard being vegan: 0 wins

Now to get some sleep so I am rested for tomorrow’s adventure!!!

Lol, so funny you keep score in the end. Vegan will always win! 🙂 ❤
Ps. We traveled to Omaha a couple of months ago just to try Isa Chandra’s restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Traveling for food is my dream come true.
